Industrializing Additive Manufacturing – Presented by Omar Fergani, Siemens Industry Software

Omar Fergani

Industrializing Additive Manufacturing – Presented by Omar Fergani, Siemens Industry Software B.V, at the AM Integrated Factory Conference, December 4, 2018, at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands.

The presentation will demonstrate how Siemens industrializes additive manufacturing; how we design and produce useful parts at scale.
The session will highlight the methodologies and the software tools that we use to turn next generation design ideas (in this case from Bugatti and Siemens Power and Gas) into commercial products. Industrial AM for functional parts – Presented by Edwin van den Eijnden, TNO

Edwin van den Eijnden

Industrial AM for functional parts – Presented by Edwin van den Eijnden, TNO, at the AM Integrated Factory Conference, December 4, 2018, at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands.

AM Systems (collaboration TNO/TUE) is active in the development of equipment for printing functional parts. In order to industrialize the Additive Manufacturing process for producing functional parts, high demands are put on equipment process and material. Aspects that become important are among others: cost per part, the quality/reproducibility of the parts and interfacing with other processes. TNO has developed innovative solutions for these aspects. In the presentation the different aspects are highlighted and further discusses.

About Edwin van den Eijnden
Edwin van den Eijnden received his MSc. in Mechanical Engineering from the TU Delft in 1998 after which he joined TNO as a control engineer. In this role he developed control algorithms for hybrid powertrains. Later he coordinated a team to develop validated after treatment models (SIMCAT) to support after treatment design and control. Scaling up 3D printing production with automated sorting – Presented by Hans van Toor, Borges

Hans van Toor

Scaling up 3D printing production with automated sorting – Presented by Hans van Toor, Borges, at the AM Integrated Factory Conference, December 4, 2018, at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands.

With increasing production volumes, the 3D printing supply-chain must adapt. Traditional supply-chain solutions are not always suitable, as 3D printing enables the cost-effective production of complex geometries in small batch-sizes (High Mix, High Volume). One of the bottle-necks in scaling up production, is the sorting process. This is currently done manually and therefore the cost scale linearly with production capacity. Borges solves a critical step by fully automating the sorting process. This enables the next step in industrial polymer 3D printing, towards lean six sigma en Quick Response Manufacturing. Using Data to Drive Additive Efficiency, Quality and Transparency – Presented by Andre Wegner, Authentise

Andre Wegner

Using Data to Drive Additive Efficiency, Quality and Transparency – Presented by Andre Wegner, Authentise, at the AM Integrated Factory Conference, December 4, 2018, at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Sittard-Geleen, The Netherlands.

Not only is additive manufacturing not nearly as encumbered by legacy processes as other manufacturing technologies, it’s also a digital process through and through – yet we are not taking advantage of these opportunities to reduce cost and increase repeatability. There are still low hanging fruit, in addition to more complex initiatives we can take to turbocharge additive with data – from simple steps such as updating order status based on activity to more complex deployments of machine learning to aid quotes, nesting, and quality assessment. Authentise will demonstrate how it uses data from a variety of additive machines– including EOS, SLM, HP, Rennishaw, Carbon– to go beyond dashboards and improve operations whether you’re in production, prototyping or R&D.
